Godolphin and Latymer is an independent day school for girls. For 11+ entry, the school uses the Quest Admissions exam, and there is no interview stage.

If you have a daughter who is curious, quick to think for herself and ready for a busy city school, Godolphin and Latymer is worth a close look. It is an independent day school for girls aged 11 to 18, set on Iffley Road in Hammersmith, west London. The school traces its beginnings to 1861, when the Godolphin School first opened on the site, and to 1905, when a day school for girls was founded in its place and took on the present name after support from the Latymer foundation. Each year the school still marks those origins, so girls grow up with a quiet sense of the story they have joined.

What gives the place its character is a promise made in 1945, when Head Mistress Dame Joyce Bishop pledged to do the school's part in educating a nation. That promise still shapes a means-tested bursary programme, and the aim is plain: a bright girl offered a place should be able to take it, whatever her family can afford. Pupils come from a wide range of cultures, faiths and backgrounds, and the school sets out to help them grow into considerate, compassionate and courageous young women, with a full life of music, sport, art and drama running alongside their lessons.

Godolphin and Latymer suits a girl who is happy to be stretched and who will take to a diverse school that cares as much about character and community as it does about results. It has been led since 2017 by headmistress Dr Frances Ramsey. The lasting impression most families take away is of a school where a girl is encouraged to be herself, think hard, and feel at home.
