More House School is an independent day school for girls. Its 11+ entrance exam uses the Quest Admissions board, and there is no interview stage as part of the admissions process for Year 7 entry.

If you want your daughter genuinely known rather than lost in a crowd, More House is the kind of place that tends to come up. It is a small Catholic day school for girls in the heart of Knightsbridge, on Pont Street a short walk from Harvey Nichols. Parents came to the Canonesses of St Augustine in 1953 asking for a Catholic day school in London for their daughters, and the school grew from that, passing into lay management in 1971. It takes its name from Sir Thomas More, the Tudor scholar and statesman. Catholic values sit at its core, but girls of all faiths and none are welcome, and the school has a broad cultural mix.

Its great strength is that it is small and knows its girls well. The Good Schools Guide calls it a supportive school that, in one parent's words, works its socks off to get the girls the best education, and rates its pastoral care among the best it has seen. The creative arts have long been at the heart of the place, with specialist art teachers and frequent visits to London galleries. Class sizes are small, which lets teachers shape their work around how each girl learns.

That closeness suits a girl who would do better in a gentle community than a large, competitive one, and who might want room to follow her interest in art and the creative side of school life. It is often the choice for families who want their daughter looked after as a person, not a number. Led since 2024 by head Ms Claire Phelps, More House is a warm, central London school built around the individual girl.
