Wirral Grammar School for Girls

The school opened in 1931 as Wirral County Grammar School for Girls, starting out as a fee-paying school of around 900 girls before the education reforms of the 1940s made it free for all. That continuity shows in an academically serious culture, but the school is careful to keep a broad and balanced curriculum across the full range of subjects rather than narrowing too early, and it runs its own sixth form. Former pupils include the actress and singer Kate Robbins.
